Central City Opera, the acclaimed summer opera festival located 40 miles from Denver is currently seeking applicants for the position of Technical Director for the 2009 Summer Season. We will be presenting three new productions: Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Sondheim's A Little Night Music and Handel's Rinaldo. Position requires the oversight of warehousing of scenery, props and theater equipment; coordination of technical requirements/activities of the Festival; supervision/management of a union stage crew; coordination of all production activities with the Festival Production Manager, Stage Managers and Music Director; monitoring/reporting of technical expenses related to the Production Department. The Technical Director will also be expected to work with the Festival Production Manager between hiring date and Festival season residency to coordinate all bids for scenery, props and lighting packages. Experience in opera is a plus, previous professional TD experience is preferred, experience in union stagehand management is mandatory. Drafting skills are necessary.
