Artistic Programs Intern
Duration: Part-time

OPERA America — the nonprofit service organization for opera — leads and serves the entire opera community, supporting the creation, presentation and enjoyment of opera. Artistic services help opera companies and creative and performing artists to improve the quality of productions and increase the creation and presentation of North American works. Information, technical and administrative services to opera companies reflect the need for strengthened leadership among staff, trustees and volunteers. Education, audience development and community services are designed to enhance all forms of opera enjoyment.

OPERA America seeks an intern to assist with artistic programs such as Making Connections and the Salon Series: Exploring American Voices. Time commitment is 8-16 hours per week; mostly evenings. Events take place four times each month from September to April. Job requirements include:
  • Contracting and liaising with speakers and artists
  • Program copy and dissemination
  • Event coordination including food and beverage assistance, name badges, etc.
  • Advertising and marketing of events
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Applicant must have knowledge of the opera field. Event management experience a plus.

The Salon Series: Exploring American Voices will feature live performances of American opera and songs in the intimate setting of the OPERA America office. Presented in collaboration with our publisher members, the Salon Series will showcase the diverse and unique voices of today's most distinguished composers. Making Connections is OPERA America’s professional development series for opera artists. Each event includes a panel discussion with influential professionals in the field, followed by receptions at which attendees can enjoy refreshments and conversations with peers. The events take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 330 Seventh Avenue, between 28th and 29th Streets.
