The New York Venue Directory is a helpful tool for OPERA America’s Professional Company Members who are seeking spaces suitable for auditions, workshops and performances. Venues listed in the Directory cover a wide range of budgetary, acoustic and programming needs; they are listed below by price, by neighborhood and alphabetically. The price listings are an approximation of the rental rate per hour. Some of the venues require full day rentals; these are indicated by a minimum rental of eight hours. Along with the new venues we have found, we have added two new features: local restaurant recommendations and reviews of spaces that opera companies have used. A star rating is indicated in the alphabetical listing and the reviews are at the bottom of this page. There are many rehearsal studios in New York available for rental. While rehearsal studios are often more cost effective than renting a theater, they also have quite a few drawbacks. As most rehearsal studios have similar looks and acoustics, we did not test the spaces, but we have provided a list of some rehearsal studios and their Web sites or phone numbers.
