Identity of the Refugee in a new Song Cycle, "Passageway" by Jonathan Stark
7:30PM - 9:00PM

Presented by Christina Wright-Ivanova and Stephanie Weiss, with composer Jonathan Stark

This concert features the World Premiere of a beautiful new song cycle, Passageway, by award-winning German composer Jonathan Stark with English text by Franziska Hass. The cycle explores psychological and emotional aspects of the current refugee crisis through music. Featuring Stephanie Weiss, mezzo-soprano, and Christina Wright-Ivanova, piano, this recital will deeply explore the physical and mental journey of a refugee's estrangement from home and family, as well as the overall concept of "home." By shedding light on this current issue through music, this recital will highlight the individual as he/she exists separately from the masses.

Stephanie Weiss is currently Assistant Professor fo Voice at the Arizona State University's Herberger Institute for Design and Arts School of Music (http://isearch.asu.edu/profile/3009462) and Christina Wright-Ivanova is Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Music (https://www.unlv.edu/people/christina-wright-ivanova).
