DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR Wichita Grand Opera is seeking a full-time Development Coordinator to work under the guidance of the General Director in the management of fundraising and the cultivation of donor activities for the leading opera company in the region. WGO produces four opera productions and one ballet production each season. The Wichita Grand Opera is based in Wichita, Kansas and makes its home at Century II Performing Arts Center. The position reports to the General Director. The Development Coordinator is responsible for the development, management, implementation, and evaluation of fund-raising programs targeted to institutional, corporate, and individual donors. The Development Coordinator also manages the departmental administration of the Wichita Grand Opera office. The position is available starting immediately.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage and execute the WGO’s Sustainer’s Campaign and Annual Fund drive
  • Manage database campaign list, daily gift entry and end-of-day financial reconciliation, database administration, daily telephone acknowledgement of select donors, preparation and timely issuance of written donor acknowledgments, ongoing campaign analysis, and other campaign-related projects.
  • Manage development website content and liaise with rest of staff to update content as necessary.
  • Manage writing of grants and gathering of support materials for grants, under the supervision of the General Director
  • Manage production and mailing/emailing of key donor communications.
  • Provide periodic progress reports on all campaigns; prepare listings and financial statements as requested by the General Director.
  • Assist the General Director and the Development Committee with management of overall development program; assume primary responsibility for program components as requested.
  • Provide for continued donor motivation and solicitation throughout the year.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Minimum two years experience in an administrative role in an office setting, prefer experience in arts organization or related university qualifications.
  • Interest in non-profit development and/or performing arts sector.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Browser capabilities, Microsoft Outlook

This is a full-time, salaried, position with benefits.

From Airport:
The easiest way to reach the OPERA America offices is to get a cab at the airport. Cost is $40-45
(not including tip).
  • JFK - Take the AirTrain ($5 - approx. 15 minutes) to the Jamaica Street Station and transfer to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR). Take the LIRR to Penn Station ($12 - approx. 35 minutes). See Penn Station directions below.
  • LaGuardia - Take the M60 Bus to the Hoyt Ave/31st Street. Get on the or Train and take that to 42nd/Times Square Station. Follow the Times Square Station directions below.
  • Newark - Take the New Jersey Transit train to Penn Station ($15 - approx. 45 min). See the Penn Station Directions below.

From Penn Station/Madison Square Garden:
Leave the station through the 7th Avenue/33rd Street exit and walk south for four blocks. The building is on
the right hand side.

From Grand Central Station:
Take the Train to the 42nd/Times Square station and transfer to the Train.
Take the Train to the 28th Street stop and walk north on 7th Avenue.
The building is on the same block as the train stop.

From 42nd Street/Times Square:
Take the Train to the 28th Street stop and walk north on 7th Avenue.
