    Opera America Announces Upcoming Making Conncetions Sessions
    OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, announces the next four sessions of its ongoing Making Connections series, a professional development and networking program nurturing the next generation of performing and creative artists. Making Connections is geared toward early-career artists including singers, composers, librettists, designers, directors and others who work in, or would like to work in, opera.

    OPERA America Announces 2008-09 Season of Online Learning Courses
    Twelve North American opera companies are partnering with OPERA America, the national service organization for the field, to deliver the association’s 2008-09 season of Online Learning courses. This season’s offerings include: Verdi’s La traviata, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and the world premiere of Andre Previn’s Brief Encounter.

    OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, announces new guidelines for 2008 Opera Fund applications which are now being accepted online through the association’s Web site.

    Anthony Freud Elected Chairman of OPERA America
    OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, announces the election of Anthony Freud, General Director of Houston Grand Opera, as Chairman of the association’s Board of Directors. Mr. Freud was elected at Opera Conference 2008 in Denver on June 13th. He will serve an initial term of two years and succeeds Charles MacKay, General Director of Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.

    The Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD Research Project An Important Highlight of Annual Conference
    OPERA America’s annual gathering of the field, Opera Conference 2008, occurs June 10-14 in Denver, Colorado. Six hundred representatives from nearly 100 opera companies will gather to discuss key issues and trends affecting the field. Hosted by Central City Opera and Opera Colorado, Opera Conference 2008 will be held at the Denver Marriott City Center, 1701 California Street, in the heart of Denver’s Arts and Entertainment District.

    First Large-Scale National Performing Arts Convention Will Take Place in 2008
    Details of the nation’s first truly combined National Performing Arts Convention (NPAC) were announced today in New York City. It will take place June 10-14, 2008 in Denver, Colorado, NPAC is expected to bring together nearly 5,000 actors, administrators, conductors, producers, dancers, trustees, singers, marketers, critics, composers, volunteers, musicians, businesses, instrumentalists, educators, directors, fundraisers and agents.
