The field of professional opera has a wealth of employment opportunities for technical and production professionals. Larger companies (those with budgets anywhere from $3 -$75 million) may hire up to 200 seasonal workers and as many as 30 full-time production employees; smaller companies (those with budgets up to $3 million per year) may have only minimal full-time staff, but hire up to 50 employees during the producing season.

- 60% of respondents work in opera stage management at least 27-40 weeks per year, while 35% work 41-52 weeks per year in opera.
