Trustee & Volunteer Resources
OPERA America support good governance of opera companies through assistance in strategic planning and other customized consulting services. Professional Opera Company members may designate three trustees to receive all the benefits of individual membership in OPERA America and nominate a trustee to become part of the National Trustee Council.
Consulting/Field Services
OPERA America's Field Services Program offers U.S. member opera companies with annual budgets up to $3 million one- or two-day on-site consultations on a wide range of organizational, governance, and presentational issues.
National Opera Trustee Recognition Program
OPERA America announces the second annual National Opera Trustee Recognition Program. The purpose of the program is to honor opera company trustees for exemplary leadership, support, and audience building efforts on behalf of their respective opera companies within their communities across the U.S.
The deadline to submit a nomination is Monday, October 27, 2008.
National Trustee Council
Professional Company Members may nominate one trustee for selection to membership in OPERA America 's National Trustees Council. The Council acts in an advisory capacity to help define governance issues facing opera companies nationwide, to identify and share best practices, and to shape OPERA America 's programmatic response to pressing governance issues.
Conferences and Conventions
OPERA America’s annual conference is the largest gathering of opera professionals in North America. Also included is a link to the National Performing Arts Convention, held every four years.
Listserves *
Trustees and volunteers at member opera companies can subscribe to specially focused listserves, connecting them with colleagues around the country to ask questions and share information and resources.
Publications
OPERA America provides an array of publications for opera artists, administrators and enthusiasts including field surveys, directories and career guidance.
