Director of Institutional Giving Boston Lyric Opera • Full-Timehttp://www.blo.orgBoston, MAThe Director is responsible for the development and execution of the overall strategy and plan for the institutional gift development effort and will have the additional opportunity to build and execute the institutional fundraising aspect of the Company’s first major comprehensive endowment campaign. Included in this strategy is a plan/program for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for every potential source of contributed revenue, corporations, foundations and government. The Director is also responsible for managing a portfolio of corporate contributors and establishing and managing a group of volunteer partners to assist in prospect cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The Director is fiscally responsible for the achievement of the institutional gifts team revenue goals and the control of related expenses.
Required professional skills and abilities:
The ideal individual will possess a high level of institutional gift program knowledge, skill and experience, a collaborative and team spirit, and excellent written and verbal communications skills. A minimum of 3 years corporate and development experience with a successful record of accomplishment. An imaginative, highly self-motivated individual who can both lead a project, as well as subordinates when required, and work in a self-directed manner. Position requires a self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to provide leadership for Trustees and other business executives. Interest in and ability to identify new donors and interact with executives. Excellent, persuasive communication and writing skills. Must be flexible in hours to work evenings and weekends and be prepared to work overtime. Arts background helpful, but not required.
