Senior Marketing Manager, Single TicketsSan Francisco Opera • Full-Timehttp://www.sfopera.comSan Francisco, CAPURPOSE: To be responsible for managing all single ticket and audience development initiatives including production of all single ticket direct mail and e-marketing initiatives, as well as advertising and print collateral.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience in performing arts marketing and sales at a management level.
- Knowledge of: basic marketing principles, principles of direct mail and e-mail marketing, and writing and copy-editing.
- Knowledge of operatic repertoire and artists preferred.
- Outstanding project management experience.
- Experienced in database marketing (Tessitura preferred).
- Ability to work on a detail level as well as a broader, more strategic level.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and problem-solve with multiple internal and external constituencies.
- Ability to strategize, take initiative and work with confidence.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database applications.
- Ability to work independently; prioritize tasks; and exercise good judgment and initiative.
- Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with artists, staff, vendors, the public, and volunteers in a professional, confidential and tactful manner.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
- Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and edits copy for marketing deliverables, including brochures, postcards, posters, banners, print ads and e-mails.
- Manages graphic designer, printers and mail house representatives to produce single ticket and audience development deliverables.
- Manages and trains shared Marketing Associate.
- Oversees relationship with IS, Box Office, Development, Communications and other departments in regard to single ticket campaign and audience development.
- Coordinates internal and external editing, proofing and trafficking of brochures, postcards, print ads, e-mails, outdoor signage.
- Manages execution of single ticket direct mail program, including list trades, list buys and database segmentation.
- Coordinates and grows e-marketing programs using Tessitura Messaging System (Wordfly), including patron segmentation, e-newsletters and e-alerts.
- Collaborates with outside groups and vendors to coordinate and execute cross-promotions.
- Oversees and contributes to Web content to make site user-friendly and informative for single ticket patrons and first-time opera-goers.
- Coordinates outreach to select new market and affinity segments through direct mail, advertising and co-promotions.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Supervises part-time interns.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

From Airport:
The easiest way to reach the OPERA America offices is to get a cab at the airport. Cost is $40-45 (not including tip).

JFK -
Take the AirTrain ($5 - approx. 15 minutes) to the Jamaica Street Station and transfer to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR).
Take the LIRR to Penn Station ($12 - approx. 35 minutes). See Penn Station directions below.

Take the M60 Bus to the Hoyt Ave/31st Street. Get on the
or Train and take that to 42nd/Times Square Station.

From Penn Station/Madison Square Garden:
Leave the station through the 7th Avenue/33rd Street exit and walk south for four blocks. The building is on the right hand side.
From Grand Central Station:
Take the  Train to the 42nd/Times Square station and transfer to the  Train.
Take the  Train to the 28th Street stop and walk north on 7th Avenue.
The building is on the same block as the train stop.
From 42nd Street/Times Square:
Take the  Train to the 28th Street stop and walk north on 7th Avenue.
