Salary: $2,000, housing provided

Own car preferred, ability to read music a plus.

Position summary/responsibilities:

Ash Lawn Opera seeks an intern to act as Youth Supervisor for opera children’s chorus and youth performers. Previous experience in theatre and with young people preferred. Will be asked to coordinate with parents and volunteers, oversee youth performers during rehearsals and performances, and organize activities for “down time” off stage.

Production Assistant duties also include assisting in day to day stage management responsibilities related to the opera, musical and Young Artist events. Will be considered an integral part of the stage management team.

About us:

Our summer 2013 season includes productions of La bohème and Carousel at the historic Paramount Theater. The season's cast includes five artists who have worked at The Metropolitan Opera, and other singers who have worked at Washington National Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, New York City Opera and other prestigious houses.

Charlottesville is located two hours south of Washington, D.C., and is the home of the University of Virginia and of Presidents Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe.

	From Airport: The easiest way to reach the OPERA America offices is to get a cab at the airport. Cost is $40-45 (not including tip). JFK - Take the AirTrain ($5 - approx. 15 minutes) to the Jamaica Street Station and transfer to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR). Take the LIRR to Penn Station ($12 - approx. 35 minutes). See Penn Station directions below. LaGuardia - Take the M60 Bus to the Hoyt Ave/31st Street. Get on the or Train and take that to 42nd/Times Square Station. Follow the Times Square Station directions below. Newark - Take the New Jersey Transit train to Penn Station ($15 - approx. 45 min). See the Penn Station Directions below. From Penn Station/Madison Square Garden: Leave the station through the 7th Avenue/33rd Street exit and walk south for four blocks. The building is on the right hand side.
