Andrew, a famous scientist comes to the place of his childhood to heal his nerves. He stays at the home of his step father, Yegor, who is a successful horticulturist. Yegor's daughter Tatyana is Andrew's childhood friend. One day The Black Monk visits him. Yegor convinces Andrew to marry Tatyana. As the wedding takes place, Andrew becomes more mentally unstable. He hears the voice of The Black Monk telling Andrew that he is The Apostle who will lead the Humanity into kingdom of the Eternal Truth. Andrew's behavior scares Tatyana and she takes him to a doctor. Medications and medical procedures heal Andrew from hallucinations, however, he becomes an ordinary person. He blames Yegor and Tatyana that they destroyed his creative mind. In the end, for last time Andrew sees The Black Monk in his dying dream.
