Penn State Opera Theatre
A trilogy of one-act operas. Each act focuses on a historic choice made by some famous woman of history (Eve, Dido, and Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra). Each act can be performed separately as a one-act chamber opera, or any two acts can be performed for a full evening program.
The first and second acts, EVE'S ODDS and GOLDEN APPLE, were two of the three finalists in the 1999 Chamber Opera Competition sponsored by the National Opera Association. Excerpts of both operas were performed at the NOA convention in New York City in January 1999. Act I, EVE'S ODDS, was selected as the winner of the NOA competition and was performed in its entirety at the NOA convention in Cincinnati in February 2000. This work was formerly known as A TRIUMPH OF WOMEN.
