Atelier de la Main d'Or
Vienna, 1900: The amours of a soprano at the Vienna Opera. Since the sudden, tragic death of her last lover, Klare has unaccountably "withdrawn from the fields of love." The Baron, Klare's patron and admirer, has long hoped to become her lover, indeed, her lifetime companion. Now, he bitterly watches her overtures to a Norwegian tenor. But it is the Baron that she asks to spend the night with her. What mystery underlies her behavior?
