OPERA America is dedicated to the promotion of new works through its many programs and offers its artist members information via workshops and publications. From advice on getting a commission and finding a publisher to information on tax law and health insurance issues, OPERA America offers essential guidance to creative and performing artists who are interested in opera.

Opera Source: Opera Source contains the most recent information available on auditions and other upcoming events, as well as general information on thousands of mainstage, training, educational, management and competition opportunities from a range of organizations.

New Works Directory: This listing of new works keeps readers abreast of new opera and music-theater and aims to connect composers and librettists with potential producers.

Workshops: OPERA America hosts professional development workshops across the country with experts from the field who provide business and career advice for emerging artists.

Making Connections: This series, held at OPERA America’s New York offices, consists of professional development and networking events for all opera artists.

Listserve: Composers, librettists and staff members at member opera companies can subscribe to NewOpera-L, connecting them with colleagues around the country to ask questions and share information and resources.

ArtistLink Sample: This monthly electronic newsletter contains articles, resources and upcoming opportunities for opera artists and administrators. This member benefit replaces previous artistic services publications including Voices and Opera Forum

  Supports composers and develops new markets for their music. Through granting, commissioning, and performance programs, the Forum provides composers at all stages of their careers with valuable resources for professional and artistic development.
American Music Center
  Offers career services for composers, including grants for copying assistance, a Web magazine NewMusicBox, and an online database of composers and their works, NewMusicJukeBox.
Meet the Composer
  Dedicated to allowing composers to connect with audiences, MTC also offers a succinct guide on the commissioning process.
Musical America Online
  This popular and comprehensive print directory is now available online: Musical America's Web site is similar to the directory with up-to-date and exhaustive listings in 30 searchable databases. There is a cost associated with access. The site also features articles, breaking news, and a career center for artists and administrators.
New Opera and Musical Theater Initiative
  Nurtures and supports New England writers and composers of musical theater and opera in the creation of new works.
NYFA Source
  Most complete database on the Internet of ongoing grants, residencies, and other programs to assist composers, singers, and other artists.
Sequenza 21
  This online contemporary classical music community provides a forum for those interested in new music to post comments, reviews, and upcoming events and links to resources.
VOX
  New York City Opera’s VOX is an annual festival of new operas that offers American composers the opportunity to hear their works with full orchestras.
