Paula Kimper

Paula Kimper, composer, is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and has been active in New York City for over 30 years as a composer of opera, theater, dance, film and song.  Kimper's first opera, Patience & Sarah, premiered in Lincoln Center Festival (1998). The Captivation of Eunice Williams premiered July 2004 in Deerfield, MA, and was most recently performed in Skopje, Macedonia. The Bridge of San Luis Rey, based on Thornton Wilder’s novel, was produced in Amherst, MA, in 2007.   Kimper's latest opera, TRUTH, about the life of Sojourner Truth, premiered in February 2012 at the Academy of Music in Northampton, MA. She has received commissions from The Phoenix Concerts, Old Deerfield Productions, Amy Pivar, Richard Daniels, Downtown Music Productions, Walt Whitman Project, American Opera Projects, Opera America and others.  Her complete catalog was recently acquired by the Loeb Music Library of Harvard University. http://www.paulakimper.com

Suzanne Gardinier is the author of five books, most recently Iridium and Selected Poems 1986-2009.  She teaches writing at Sarah Lawrence College and lives in Manhattan.

Baritone Jesse Blumberg is equally at home on opera, concert and recital stages; and performing repertoire from the Renaissance and Baroque to the 20th and 21st centuries. Recent highlights include roles at Minnesota Opera, Boston Early Music Festival and London’s Royal Festival Hall, and concerts with New York Festival of Song, American Bach Soloists and Mirror Visions Ensemble. Djordje Nesic

Djordje Stevan Nesic’s pianism has been described as artful, assertive, sensitive and quietly virtuosic. During the recent seasons, Nesic recorded art songs for OPERA America’s Songbook, performed in both concert and recital at Weill Hall, and Ravinia Festival’s Rising Star Series and participated in the Emmy Award-winning PBS broadcast of This Little Light of Mine with soprano Adrienne Danrich, also issued on DVD. From Airport:
The easiest way to reach the OPERA America offices is to get a cab at the airport. Cost is $40-45
(not including tip).
  • JFK - Take the AirTrain ($5 - approx. 15 minutes) to the Jamaica Street Station and transfer to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR). Take the LIRR to Penn Station ($12 - approx. 35 minutes). See Penn Station directions below.
  • LaGuardia - Take the M60 Bus to the Hoyt Ave/31st Street. Get on the or Train and take that to 42nd/Times Square Station. Follow the Times Square Station directions below.
  • Newark - Take the New Jersey Transit train to Penn Station ($15 - approx. 45 min). See the Penn Station Directions below.

From Penn Station/Madison Square Garden:
Leave the station through the 7th Avenue/33rd Street exit and walk south for four blocks. The building is on
the right hand side.

From Grand Central Station:
Take the Train to the 42nd/Times Square station and transfer to the Train.
Take the Train to the 28th Street stop and walk north on 7th Avenue.
The building is on the same block as the train stop.

From 42nd Street/Times Square:
Take the Train to the 28th Street stop and walk north on 7th Avenue.
