COMPOSER
Michael Ching Michael Ching ("Unending Story") is an opera composer, conductor and songwriter. He is the former artistic director of Opera Memphis (1992-2010). Ching is the composer of Buoso’s Ghost, which has been performed by many companies, most recently Bayview Festival and in Amarillo, Saratoga and New Jersey. His most recent operas are Midsummer Night’s Dream, opera a cappella, and Slaying the Dragon. A recording of Midsummer is forthcoming. With his "Unending Story" co-lyricist Hugh Moffatt, Ching wrote the operas Corps of Discovery, King of the Clouds and Out of the Rain. He is currently writing a one-act comedy about speed dating, QuikDate, with stage director and singer Dean Anthony. QuikDate will be performed in summer 2013 at Brevard Music Festival Opera. Ching studied composition with Robert Ward at Duke University and with Carlisle Floyd at the Houston Opera Studio. He is music director of Nickel City Opera, the regional opera company of Buffalo, NY.

Hugh Moffatt & Michael Ching The list of artists who have recorded Hugh Moffatt’s songs includes Jerry Lee Lewis, Ronnie Milsap, Alabama, Dolly Parton, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Johnny Cash, and many others from all styles of music. Among his best known songs are “Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You,” “How Could I Love Her so Much,” Carolina Star” and “Rose of My Heart.” As a recording artist, he has released nine CDs and toured extensively around the world. In collaboration with composer Michael Ching, Moffatt has written two one-act operas, King of the Clouds and Out of the Rain, and the full-length opera, Corps of Discovery, based on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Marquita Lister Marquita Lister continues to earn worldwide praise for her expressive operatic roles, purity of tone and vocal versatility. PIANIST
Marvin Mills Marvin Mills has performed throughout the U.S. as an organist and pianist, harpsichordist and conductor. Organist at St. Paul’s UMC, Kensington, MD, he is also keyboard artist/assistant conductor for the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival. As a composer, his commissions include spiritual arrangements for Denyce Graves and The Ritz Chamber Players, a setting of a Phyllis Wheatley poem for the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, and organ works, brass arrangements and anthems for various churches.
