Join OPERA America and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis at Opera Conference 2018 with presentations from the great American composer John Adams and other field leaders, special receptions and dinners, and festival performances in the Gateway City. Evenings feature Verdi’s La traviata and Gluck’s Orfeo and Euridice alongside Marc Blitzstein’s rarely performed Regina, as well as the closing performance of Huang Ruo and David Henry Hwang’s world premiere, An American Soldier.

Opera in Bavaria
Munich and Bayreuth | July 24 – August 4, 2018

Head to the homeland of German tradition for two of Europe’s most famous opera festivals. The tour begins in Bavaria’s capital with the historic Munich Opera Festival. Jonas Kaufmann and Nina Stemme star in Wagner’s Parsifal and Diana Damrau takes the lead in La traviata, alongside new productions of Verdi’s The Sicilian Vespers, Janáĉek’s From the House of the Dead and Haydn’s Orlando Paladino. Travelers may choose to extend their trip north into the Upper Franconian countryside for the renowned Bayreuth Festival, with performances of Jan Philipp Gloger’s The Flying Dutchman and the festival’s new production of Lohengrin directed by Yuval Sharon, artistic director of The Industry and OPERA America board member.
