Digital Media Manager

Opera Theatre of Saint Louis is one of America’s leading festival opera companies, performing a four-opera festival season in May and June each year at the Loretto-Hilton Center in Webster Groves. Audiences traveled from every zip code in the St. Louis metropolitan area, from 48 states, and from as far away as Australia and Germany to attend the company’s 2017 Festival Season. The company has received national attention for its highly successful New Works, Bold Voices commissions of world premieres on contemporary American subjects, its long history of developing the next generation of great opera stars, its success in building young and diverse audiences for opera, and its meaningful impact across the St. Louis region through education and community programs.

Currently, the company is looking to welcome a new Digital Marketing Manager to its marketing and public relations team.

The Digital Marketing Manager is an integral part of OTSL’s marketing and public relations team, reporting to the Director of Marketing and Public Relations. An ideal candidate will have qualifications in most (if not all) of the following job functions:

  • E-Marketing Strategy & Management The position is responsible for the strategy and execution of OTSL’s e-marketing program, including lead acquisition, content creation, and on-going assessment of e-marketing campaigns.
  • Digital Advertising Strategy & Management In concert with OTSL’s agency and media partners, the position manages and assists in executing and assessing all digital advertising plans. This includes paid search, delivery of digital advertising through ad networks, retargeting, geo-fencing, or other paid channels, and social media advertising.
  • Social Media Content Management In concert with OTSL’s Public Relations Coordinator, the position ensures that social media content is integrated with other digital and print content (e-marketing, web, video, blogs, press releases, etc.) and that OTSL is operating at the highest levels of online content engagement.
  • Website Strategy & Management The position is responsible for consistent and accurate factual updates to the OTSL website, the management of design and functionality upgrades in concert with OTSL’s agency, and integration of website sales channels with the OTSL box office.
  • Video Strategy & Management In concert with the marketing, artistic, and production teams, the position develops and implements strategy for video creation and dissemination, regularly assessing effectiveness of video campaigns.
  • Data Extractions & Database Management In pursuit of the above objectives, the position effectively manages data extractions from OTSL’s CRM system, Tessitura, to ensure consistent audience segmentation across all digital platforms. The position also maintains the hygiene of the OTSL database.

Based on the skills and background of the most qualified candidate, the relative weight of each of these responsibilities may vary. Pending the chosen candidate, the position may manage, assist, or simply coordinate certain responsibilities with other members of the marketing/pr team, rather than provide exclusive oversight.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of previous experience with the majority of the job functions outlined
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and consistent professional follow-through
  • Ability to manage multiple competing timelines with a professional demeanor
  • A team-oriented approach and an interest in the performing arts
  • An ability to work evening and weekend hours during the OTSL festival season (May – June) and in conjunction with other occasional programs throughout the year.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing software
  • Experience with Tessitura preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree, communications or related degree preferred
