Associate Technical Director

Ahead of its 2018-2019 Season, Boston Lyric Opera seeks a full time Associate Technical Director to join the Production Department.  The ATD will supervise build, install and technical support for all Boston Lyric Opera Productions, leading in-house scenery construction; collaborate with the Production and Technical Director on all logistics and load-in/strike aspects of the season, regardless of the venue, and helm all rehearsal hall load-in and strike activities.

Experience required in: crew supervision, including IATSE crew environments; scenery engineering, construction and installation; drafting in AutoCAD or VectorWorks environment; strong Mac OS and Windows computer skills.  Preferred skills include metalwork, knowledge of audio-visual equipment, driving large vehicles, lifting 50 lbs, and sewing skills.  MFA degree in theatre technology or equivalent experience preferred.  The ideal candidate will work well independently, be detail oriented, organized and even tempered.

Typical BLO season includes 4 large scale new productions staged at various venues around Boston.  Full time year-round position, start date between July 1 and August 1.  Competitive salary with benefits.  To apply, please email cover letter and resume to recruiting@blo.org with ATD SEARCH in subject line.  Apply by Friday, March 16, 2018.
