Composer: Victor Herbert
Composer Bio: Victor Herbert (February 1, 1859 – May 26, 1924) was an Irish-born, German-raised American composer, cellist, and conductor. He is best known for his many operettas which premiered on Broadway between the 1890s and World War I. He was a founding member of ASCAP, an activist for the legal rights of composers, and influenced the development of the Copyright Act of 1909. Herbert began his career in Vienna, Austria and Stuttgart, Germany where he performed as a cellist. He and his opera singer wife moved to the United States in 1886 when both worked with the Metropolitan Opera. They eventually became citizens and remained in the US for the rest of their lives.

Description: Eileen is the niece of Lady Maude, a widowed woman who is causing resentment among the Irish locals for having an affair with Castle Sligo. Their carriage breaks down and they stop at the Biddy's Black Bull Inn, the same place a band of smugglers is hiding its loot. When village drunks attack Eileen and Lady Maude they are protected by one of the smugglers, Barry O'Day. Each of the women fall in love with him through the comedic tale, helping him and each other out of various tight spots. Barry and Eileen wind up together and it is declared that "Ireland shall stand among all nations of the world."
