Satyagraha
Composer: Philip Glass

Librettist: Bhagavad Gita, Philip Glass and Constance DeJon
Synopsis
The second in Glass's trilogy about men who changed the world (Einstein on the Beach, Akhnaten). The opera is semi-narrative in form and deals with Mahatma Gandhi's early years in South Africa (1893-1914) and his development of non-violent protest as a political tool. "Satyagraha" is a Sanskrit word meaning "truth force."
