OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

Due to internal promotions and staff expansion, we are seeking an outstanding -and very special- event management professional to join our stellar Development team in the role of Special Events Manager.

Our Special Events Manager is responsible for promoting and sharing the brand and mission of Portland Opera through the arrangement, planning, promotion and execution of varied special events for the Development, Marketing and Production departments of Portland Opera. 

As an integral member of the Development team, a division of the newly created External Affairs department, the Special Events Manager also works with team members and other department directors to realize department and company goals, develop new business opportunities, and serves as an important liaison and resource for our company.

 ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  •  Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience and proven track record of success with corporate and/or large nonprofit VIP events including, but not limited to fundraising
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and managing calendars for 75+ events per year
  • Direct experience collaborating with Marketing and other departments to develop and contribute promotional event content through all channels, including social media
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management software
  • Professional demeanor and strong customer-service focus, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a positive, collaborative team approach to work

The ideal candidate will have professional development and event planning experience with performing arts organizations.
