OPERA America, the national non-profit service organization for opera, headquartered at the National Opera Center in midtown New York City, seeks an Executive Assistant to support our mission-driven initiatives.

 

Job Summary:

The Executive Assistant (EA) is responsible for a wide-range of administrative functions requiring the highest levels of initiative, accountability and confidentiality.  The EA provides scheduling, logistical and administrative support to the President/CEO and works closely with him to manage specific projects coordinated through the Office of the President. This position represents the office in a discreet, professional manner at all times to staff, board members, association members, donors and the media.

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach in taking on responsibility and willingness to pitch in and help others when necessary, proven project management experience and experience in meeting planning and logistics, success in working in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands and remain flexible as priorities arise, and the ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels, internal and external to the organization. A minimum of five years’ experience in providing administrative support with an emphasis on scheduling and preparing itineraries is required. Strong technical/computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office and database applications, excellent writing, proofing and typing skills and a sense of quality and pride in finished work product is required.  A familiarity with music and opera is preferred.

 

Compensation:

Compensation includes a starting salary of at least $50,000/year, health benefits, pension package, paid vacation and life insurance.
