Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point (www.opera.org) is a training program for aspiring opera singers in beautiful Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  We are seeking an experienced coach/accompanist to join the artistic staff for our 68th season, May 23-July 20, 2018.  The company runs three main stage productions in repertory (7-8 performances each) and a smaller, traveling studio artist production in a one-month season of performances beginning June 22.  The company comprises 45 vocal artists supported by an artistic/administrative staff of 25 and a paid orchestra of 25.  The 2018 main stage productions are Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe.  There will be a small, traveling outreach production of Cinderella.

The duties will include, but are not limited to:
Serving as principal accompanist for two of the main stage or outreach operas
Rehearsing and performing as assigned and scheduled.  This could include continuo, orchestral piano/harp, run-out, outreach or Studio Artist performances
Share in accompanying responsibilities for master classes, the Broadway Cabaret, etc.
Coach vocal artists as assigned
Serve as coach/accompanist or music director of opera scenes for our scenes program in the final week
                                
This position will begin Wednesday, May 23  and continue through July 20, 2018.  The position pays a stipend of $2300 paid in four installments. A shared air-conditioned room with a shared bathroom and receive meals 6.5 days/week throughout the contract period. The successful candidate will be considered an independent contractor: no taxes will be withheld and you receive a federal 1099-Misc form in early 2018.  As an independent contractor, you will not be eligible for any benefits, including unemployment, health insurance, or vacation.
