PROFILE
Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point (www.opera.org), is a training program for aspiring opera singers in beautiful Eureka Springs, Arkansas.   Now preparing for its 68th season, the company runs three main stage productions in repertory (7-8 performances each) and a smaller, traveling studio artist production for a one-month season, mid-June to mid-July.  The company comprises 45 vocal artists supported by an artistic/administrative staff of 25 and a paid orchestra of 25.  2018 main stage productions:  Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe.  There will be a small, traveling outreach production of Cinderella.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point is seeking a Master Carpenter for its summer season mid-May (TBA) through July 21, 2018.  Responsibilities include assisting the Scenic Designer /Technical Director in the construction of scenery, running scene shifts during show performances, runout performances, nightly changeovers, supervising student/artist and volunteer workers, and other duties as needed. 

The successful applicants will be creative, reliable, talented problem solvers with experience with typical power and pneumatic tools used in a scene shop, stage carpentry practices, rigging, and running shows backstage.  

Compensation will be $2000 paid in four installments, a semi-private air-conditioned room and meals 6.5 days/week for the period of the contract.   

Review of applications will begin January 21 and continue until the position is filled.  Interviews will be conducted over the telephone and might be held in March at USITT 2018 in Fort Lauderdale if the position is still open.
