PROFILE
Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point (www.opera.org) is a training program for aspiring opera singers in beautiful Eureka Springs, Arkansas.   Now preparing for its 68th season, the company runs three main stage productions in repertory (7-8 performances each) and a smaller, traveling studio artist production for a one-month season, mid-June to mid-July.  The company comprises 45 vocal artists supported by an artistic/administrative staff of 25 and a paid orchestra of 25.  Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point (www.opera.org) is seeking a Production Assistant/ Apprentice for its Summer 2018 repertory season:  Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe.  There will be a small, traveling outreach production of Cinderella.  

JOB DESCRIPTION
Opera in the Ozarks seeks a Production Assistant Intern for the 2018 summer season.  Responsibilities include assisting the Scenic Designer, Lighting Designer and Technical Director in hanging lights, constructing scenery, running scene shifts during show performances, nightly changeovers, run-out performances and other duties as needed.   The successful applicants will be creative, reliable, talented problem solvers with some experience in stage lighting, carpentry, rigging, and running shows backstage.

The Production Assistant Intern will be hired as an independent contractor, will be ineligible for medical/retirement/travel benefits and no taxes will be withheld.  Compensation includes $1500, a shared air-conditioned room and meals 6.5 days/week for the period of the contract May 21-July 21, 2018.  

Review of applications will begin February 1 and continue until the position is filled.  Interviews will be conducted by phone.  Some interviews might be held at USITT 2018 in March if the position is not filled by then.
