DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, repair, and maintain scenery
  • Repair and maintain shop equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Manage a fast-paced work environment
  • Efficiently lead union crews
  • Attend production meetings, tech rehearsals, and performances when required
  • Coordinating load-ins/outs for all venues of sets, lights, and sound
  • Act and Company Safety Officer: conduct safety meetings, maintain first aid kit, manage accident reports, update safety manual prior to start of season
  • Technically design new shows including but now limited to: drafting a full set of working/shop drawings, assembly guidelines, drafting all venue ground plans, review load-in/out requirements, manage trucking needs, modifications for our venues
  • Oversee all technical rehearsals and advise on all stage running operations and all stage running sheets
  • Oversee set and equipment rentals: load-in/out from warehouse; act as Rental TD for clients; update inventory, supervise repair and refurbishment as necessary, provide technical information to clients as necessary
  • Advise on feasibility of rental sets (draft as necessary, review load-in/out requirements, trucking needs, labor needs, modifications for our venues)
  • Collaborate with other departments on necessary projects
  • Other duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent written and oral communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently
  • Excellent computer skills and aptitude, especially using the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as the ability to quickly learn new software programs
  • Proficient digital drafting (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Experience in managing union crews preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the production team and with multiple departments
  • Driving a 26' box truck

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BFA
  • 2-3 years' work experience in theatrical production with a demonstrated track record of increased responsibility
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner
  • Position requires evening and weekend obligations during the opera season
  • A strong sense of humor
