Paradigm Shifts

Celebrating true stories of courageous people from around the world who are preserving and protecting our Planet and its indigenous cultures. Dedicated to increasing awareness of the connection between the environment and social justice, women's wisdom and indigenous knowledge, PARADIGM SHIFTS, MUSIC AND FILM FESTIVAL pairs compelling independent films with artists performing a variety of music and dance, from jazz and gospel, to classical, folk, African, Tibetan, Native American and new opera and chamber music.


LIVE MUSIC for families and youth by Sky Caravan 
Ukrainian violinist Milena Davidowicz and Russian pianist Elena Panova, will perform exciting gypsy and Ukrainian music and will introduce young audiences to playing stringed instruments. Everyone will have the opportunity to play an instrument.

FILM: AIDEN'S BUTTERFLIES, Love with a Sense of Purpose 
- An Olga Talyn production, Brad Mays film, and the Environmental Education Fund.

4.1 MILES by Daphne Matziaraki 
The true story of a coast guard captain on a small Greek Island who is suddenly in charge of saving thousands of refugees from drowning at sea. (30')

THE ISLAND OF ALL TOGETHER by Philip Brink and Marieke van der Velden 
A short documentary of tourists in conversation with refugees who crossed the sea from Turkey to the Greek Island of Lesbos. While sitting on a little bench overlooking the sea, they speak about war, fleeing, home, work, love, but also cars and pets. This ode to humanism shows what happens when we take time to sit down and talk with each other instead of about each other. (23') 

NEW SANCTUARY by Andre Daughtry 
A speculative film of art and spirituality that follows the deportation case of a former US green card holder named Ramesh who is currently fighting his deportation back to Guyana where he is a citizen. (31')

Q & A with Andre Daughtry, Ravi Ragbir, Immigration Activist and Founder of New Sanctuary Coalition, and Christine Zhou from New York City Mayor's office of Immigrant Affairs.
