SUMMARY

The HGOco Programs Coordinator organizes all logistical aspects of HGOco touring programs, camps and supports the implementation of other HGOco programming. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the dynamic HGOco team that provides educational and community programming throughout the greater Houston area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates logistics, expenses, scheduling and marketing of all educational touring programs: Opera To Go!, Storybook Opera, Sing! Move! Play! and similar programs as designated by the HGOco Education Manager.

Maintains detailed and accurate expense reports for all educational touring programs.

Coordinates rehearsal and touring process with HGOco Touring Stage Manager, and HGO artistic and technical departments.

Develops and implements a marketing and communications plan to promote touring programs to both established and new clients.

Coordinator of HGOco Camps Facilitates the planning, marketing and day-to-day operations of camps.

Maintains detailed and accurate expense reports for all camps.

Supports the Education Manager in the hiring, training of camp counselors and staff.

Represents HGOco prior to mainstage performances, at local and regional festivals and at public events to promote programming.

Supports the Education and Producing Managers with auditions, casting and onboarding processes of performers (for productions and special performances), and teaching artists (for residencies and special programs).

Collaborates with HGOco Operations Administrator to coordinate Student Performances logistics.

Supports the program managers by creating survey tools for the collection of data to analyze programs.

Supports the HGOco program managers in scheduling transportation and housing for guest artists and presenters.

Supports the Producing and Community Initiatives Managers on special projects as assigned.

Other duties as determined by the Director of HGOco.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor degree is required in the performing arts, education or arts administration, or equivalent experience. Candidate must be highly motivated and able to work both independently and as a cooperative member of the HGOco team. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines while creating high-quality, detailed work is required. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, successfully maintain accurate financial reporting and be proficient in Microsoft Suite. The candidate is required to work some nights and weekends, have their own reliable means of transportation and be physically able to lift and carry weight up to 25 lbs.

SPECIAL JOB CHARACTERISTICS:

The position requires the candidate to possess excellent time management skills and be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate must be extremely comfortable with public speaking and with pro-actively reaching out to potential schools and community organizations to promote programming. The candidate will be required to independently move materials and set up HGOco’s promotional table at off-site events as well as sometimes assisting with set up of HGOco touring or camp productions and special events. Candidates who are fluent in one or more of Houston’s most spoken languages will be given priority consideration.
