Director of the Studio Artists Program
DESCRIPTION
Sarasota Opera is seeking a Director for the Studio Artists Program to join the artistic staff for the 2026 winter season.
The Studio Artists Program Director will be responsible for coaching and preparing the studio artists, working closely with the Artistic Director, Artistic Administrator, and Apprentice Artist Program Director.
The Studio Artists at Sarasota Opera perform comprimario roles and cover principal roles in mainstage productions. They also serve as ambassadors to the community in the form of donor events and public and private concerts.
Responsibilities of the Studio Artists Program Director include but are not limited to:

Coaching and preparing studio artists in their mainstage roles and cover assignments. The operas in our Winter 2026 season are: La bohème, The Merry Widow, Il trovatore, and Susannah.

Planning repertoire for studio artists concerts and events in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Artistic Administrator.

Serving as pianist for all studio artists concerts and events.

Attending all planning meetings as necessary.

Collaborating with the rest of the artistic team to ensure the production is of the highest quality.

Performing any other duties as required by the Artistic Director or the Artistic Director’s designees.
Requirements:

Significant experience as a pianist and coach, and/or as a member of a music staff in an opera company or similar organization.

Knowledge and command of the standard repertoire, especially from Mozart to Puccini/verismo.

Strong organizational skills, including planning and preparing repertoire for numerous concerts throughout the season.

Flexibility to work irregular hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Availability from January 5th to March 29th.
SALARY RANGE: 700 - 900
Desired Start Date: January 4, 2026
