Opera Conference 2019: Examining Traditions

Traditions provide constancy and comfort and, in opera, have shaped a canon of masterpieces and collection of performance practices that define the art form for many ticket buyers and donors. Examining traditions is also part of opera’s history and has advanced the art form from the 17th century to the 21st. Presentations and discussions will reveal the ways companies are reinterpreting the repertoire, adjusting practices and introducing new ideas that contribute to the evolution of the art form.
