Open for Business: A Season of Experimentation and Discovery

One year ago, opera fell silent for weeks until artists and companies began to share content on digital platforms and organize outdoor performances in parks, tents, drive-in movie theaters, and amphitheaters. Inventive responses to the COVID crisis brought new energy and audiences to the art form. As summer approaches, opera will be open for business in ways that could not have been imagined before, building on experience gained over the last 12 months. Leaders from within and outside the field discuss their learning, near-term goals and strategies, and thoughts for the future of their work.
