DWB (Driving While Black)

DWB (Driving While Black), a new opera from composer Susan Kander and librettist Roberta Gumbel, is a montage of poetic and haunting moments examining the trials and triumphs Black mothers experience as their children come of age in a society plagued by racism and inequality.

This piece earned UrbanArias a New Works Exploration Grant to produce and present this video feature at the 2021 winter meeting of the New Works Forum.
