Marketing Director
DESCRIPTION
The Marketing Director leads Opera Montana's marketing and audience development efforts by creating and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that increase ticket sales, strengthen the organization's brand, and deepen community engagement. This position oversees digital and traditional marketing initiatives, manages social media accounts, analyzes marketing and patron performance data, and optimizes SEO, website content, email marketing, and other digital platforms to maximize reach and return on investment. The Marketing Director also interfaces with contracted videographers, photographers, graphic designers, and other third-party creators that serve the mission of Opera Montana.
The Marketing Director is responsible for maintaining and leveraging CRM data to support targeted marketing campaigns, audience segmentation, and patron engagement. The position also develops and manages corporate sponsorship relationships, working with local businesses to secure marketing partnerships and sponsorship support, including the selling of ads for opera programs.
In addition, the Marketing Director provides administrative support to the Development Director through routine development activities, including donor communications, database management, event support, and other fundraising-related tasks as assigned.
The Marketing Director will be expected to be a team player, assisting with productions and events as needed.

Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy
· Develop and implement Opera Montana's annual marketing and audience-development strategy.
· Establish measurable goals for ticket sales, audience growth, digital engagement, and marketing revenue.
· Develop individual marketing plans for each production, program, and major organizational initiative.
· Maintain and strengthen Opera Montana's brand and public identity.
Ticket Sales & Audience Development
· Analyze patron demographics, purchasing behavior, geographic data, and sales trends.
· Develop strategies to attract new audiences and retain existing patrons.
Digital Marketing & Analytics
· Oversee Opera Montana's website and digital marketing strategy.
· Manage SEO and search-engine visibility.
· Manage Google Analytics and other relevant analytics platforms.
Email Marketing & CRM
· Develop and manage Opera Montana's email marketing strategy.
· Segment audiences through the CRM to deliver targeted communications.
· Develop campaigns for ticket buyers, subscribers, donors, prospects, lapsed patrons, and other audience segments.
· Work closely with the Development Director to ensure marketing and fundraising communications complement one another.
· Use CRM data to identify opportunities for audience conversion, retention, and increased engagement.
Advertising & Media
· Develop and manage advertising campaigns across digital, print, radio, outdoor, and other appropriate media.
· Coordinate creative development for advertisements and promotional materials.
· Collaborate with contracted graphic designer, videographer, photographers, on marketing materials.
Social Media & Content
· Own the organization's overall social media strategy.
· Establish content calendars and priorities.
· Coordinate photography, video, graphics, interviews, artist content, behind-the-scenes material, and other promotional content.
Public Relations
· Develop relationships with local, regional, and statewide media.
· Coordinate press releases, media pitches, interviews, reviews, and production publicity.
· Develop publicity strategies for major productions, new works, tours, and statewide initiatives.
Corporate Sponsorships
· Identify and cultivate business sponsorship opportunities in collaboration with the Development Director.
· Develop sponsorship packages and marketing benefits.
· Assist with sponsor solicitation and stewardship.
· Ensure sponsors receive appropriate recognition and promotional benefits.
· Track sponsorship commitments and deliverables.
Organizational Support
· Assist with box office and front of house duties during production times
· Be able to sell subscription and individual tickets when needed
· Assist with front of house duties during production times
· Engage and serve as a positive ambassador for Opera Montana with patrons, parents, donors, board members, colleagues, and all Opera Montana constituents
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Degree in marketing, communications, business, arts management, or equivalent experience in a related field.
· Demonstrated experience developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies.
· Experience with digital advertising (Meta, Google, etc) and working with SEO, CRM systems.
· Experience managing email campaigns and segmenting audience lists in Mailchimp or similar platforms.
· Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
· Excellent communication and writing skills, EQ, and ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities.
· Knowledge of opera and/or musical theatre strongly preferred.
