World Opera Day

World Opera Day is an international initiative to showcase the ways opera companies and artists enrich the livelihood and civic fabric of their communities.

World Opera Day (worldoperaday.com) is held annually on October 25. It is a collaboration between OPERA America, Opera Europa, and Ópera Latinoamérica.

The one-day event builds on the legacy of OPERA America’s National Opera Week, a 10-year program established by the National Endowment of the Arts to celebrate the vibrancy of American opera.

Get Involved

World Opera Day is a social media initiative — an opportunity for the industry’s administrators, artists, trustees and audiences to shine a light on opera through their social media platforms.

For World Opera Day 2022, we're inviting audiences back to the theater. After two years of innovative digital programming, we’re using this day to remind us all of the wonder and excitement of live performance.

How to Participate on October 25, 2022:

  1. Post a photo of the curtain call from your last night at the opera and share what that experience meant to you!
  2. Tag your content with #worldoperaday and follow the hashtag to see what’s happening worldwide.
  3. Add #MeetOpera and tag @OPERAAmerica to expand the conversation, share posts, and increase engagement.
