Key Responsibilities

  • Determines and manages all costume production needs for assigned shows.

  • Create and maintain archival costume packets for rentals and co-productions on assigned shows.

  • Prepare and pack costumes and associated paperwork for outgoing rentals; check-in costumes upon return.

  • Track and reconcile all financial details for assigned shows, including preparation of weekly statements of expenditures and final expense reconciliation.

  • Assist and manage planning, maintenance and upkeep of costume storage.

  • Perform other duties as required of a Costume Coordinator in an originally producing opera company.

  • Assist in the realization of costumes for productions.

 

Qualifications

  • The candidate must have two years or more experience in a mainstage costume shop.

  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain several projects at once and sustain productivity under pressure.

  • Must be able to interact effectively and professionally with staff, management, vendors and artists.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, lift 30 lbs. to waist level, and be computer proficient.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • The successful candidate must be imaginative, cooperative, highly self-motivated, and must have outstanding interpersonal skills.

  • A passion for the performing arts is essential.

  • Some travel is required.

  • Nights and weekends are required while in production.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those we consider important for an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job: extended periods of sitting and performing tasks such as typing and using a computer mouse, with strong visual and auditory focus, occasional lifting (not exceeding 30 pounds), reaching for items, effective communication skills, and fine motor abilities, being mobile within the office for activities like attending performances, events, and meetings. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
