Sales and Box Office Manager
DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY
The Atlanta Opera seeks a dynamic and customer-focused Sales and Box Office Manager to oversee box office operations, ticketing systems, retail sales, and membership fulfillment. This role plays a key part in driving earned revenue and enhancing the patron experience. The Manager will collaborate closely with the marketing team to support campaign implementation, coordinate promotions, and ensure seamless integration of sales and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate is a skilled Tessitura user with strong leadership, sales, and data analysis experience in a performing arts environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following duties, in addition to other duties as assigned.
Box Office & Ticketing Operations:
· Lead the day-to-day management of the box office, ensuring accurate and timely processing of subscriptions, single tickets, group sales, and complimentary admissions.
· Supervise and train sales and box-office staff in customer service protocols, sales techniques, and Tessitura procedures.
· Work with consultants to maintain and build performances, packages, and promotions in Tessitura; troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
· Coordinate house scaling, ticket inventory, and access codes in collaboration with marketing and production teams.
· Ensure patron communications and pre-show logistics align with Front of House operations.
· Manage and oversee all aspects of Patron Services and Front of House Operations.
Sales Management:
· Manage retail sales through ShopOpera, including merchandise planning, inventory oversight, point-of-sale operations, and online store maintenance.
· Oversee additional sales products and patron services benefits as developed and assigned.
· Develop strategies to meet or exceed ticketing and retail sales goals; track and analyze trends to identify new opportunities.
· Provide excellent service to individual and group buyers, donors, and corporate clients.
Marketing & Promotions Collaboration:
· Partner with the marketing team to implement promotions, special offers, and audience development initiatives across ticketing and retail platforms.
· Execute coordinated sales campaigns, ensuring timely deployment of offers in Tessitura and clear communication to patrons.
· Share data insights and customer behavior trends to inform segmentation, pricing, and campaign planning.
· Support email and direct marketing campaigns with accurate ticketing configurations and promotion tracking.
· Ensure consistent brand voice and customer experience across all patron-facing sales channels.
Administrative & Strategic:
· Generate regular reports on sales performance, audience trends, and inventory for leadership and board review.
· Participate in organizational goal setting and contribute to cross-departmental strategies for audience growth.
· Maintain high standards of record-keeping for all transactions, memberships, and sales interactions.
· Stay informed on best practices in arts ticketing, CRM management, and promotional strategies.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in box office, ticketing, or sales operations within performing arts or live events setting.
Proficiency in Tessitura or a similar ticketing/CRM system (strongly preferred).
Experience with point-of-sale and e-commerce platforms; Box office or sales management experience a plus.
Proven ability to lead sales initiatives and manage customer service teams.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends during performance periods.

BENEFITS
Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000 Annual
