Bel Canto Bootcamp by Will Crutchfield
7:00PM - 9:50PM

Presented by Teatro Nuovo

Bel Canto Bootcamp is a condensed version of the training sequence used each summer at Teatro Nuovo and its predecessor, Bel Canto at Caramoor. We seek to focus singers' attention on the way their individual voices - at whatever state of physical development they have already attained - perform in relation to a group of classic Bel Canto skills; to provide tools for self-assessment and identify areas of possible improvement; and to offer some practical working principles that can be integrated into ongoing study with their various teachers and colleagues. Those skills include basic concepts of legato, agility, and registration; in conjunction with them we give a crash course in the fundamentals of ornamentation and the history of Italian singing style. Each event is divided into an informational seminar and a work session in master-class format. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants and 24 auditors.
