Junior Accountant


DESCRIPTION

The position will report to the Assistant Controller and assist with accounting responsibilities focusing primarily on cash disbursement and cash receipts processing, as well as financial reconciliations. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support accounts payable processes including review of invoices and reimbursements for payment ensuring proper coding, documentation, approvals, and wire instruction; serve as a backup for invoice entry if needed; support responding to ad hoc information requests.

  • Assist with American Express and other credit card program administration including report distribution and review of coding/receipts.

  • Initiate payments and transfers in various financial institution systems. (State Street, Ascendant, banks)

  • Provide support for the preparation of investment authorizations and purchase and sale transactions.

  • Participate in department reconciliation processes including bank and other account reconciliations

  • Support the management of the chart of accounts and activity listings.

  • Prepare and enter journal entries in the general ledger system; maintain approved copies of all journal entries.

  • Participate in interim and year-end deferrals and accruals compilation and reconciliation -

  • Maintain accounts receivable billing log and perform monthly reconciliations to identify and assist in the follow up of outstanding amounts.

  • Generate, distribute, and follow-up on musical instrument insurance billing.

  • Assist with implementation of various process improvement initiatives such as Concur, ACH processing, credit card management, wire uploads.

  • Complete other accounting tasks as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 1-3 years minimum prior experience in accounting 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be available to work on-site 3-5 days a week

$50,000 - $55,000 a year

BENEFITS

Pay Range: $50,000 - $55,000 Annual
