Director of Development

Opera in the Heights, Houston, Texas,  is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Development whose leadership in fundraising will help guide the company into the future. The Director of Development will serve as the organization’s chief fundraiser working with the General Director, Operation’s Manager and Board of Directors. The person filling this position will be responsible for execution and evaluation of short and long -term fundraising goals and strategies.

About Oh!

Opera in the Heights, a 501c3 professional regional company, exists to provide a stage for emerging artists and to bring affordable and accessible opera to the Greater Houston area.

Since 1996, OH! Had raised the curtain on its main stage at Lambert Hall on Heights Blvd for approximately 350 performances and has earned a national reputation for its critical role in discovering and developing young talent and for the quality of its programming and productions.

Opera in the Heights is a place where the next generation of great opera singers emerges to shape the future of the art form. For audiences, it is a place of discovery; not only of our extraordinary artists, but of everything we love about opera. First-timers and seasoned enthusiast alike always find something fresh and inspiring in our intimate theater.

The entire Heights area is a center for arts and culture with performance venues and art galleries, all within one of the country’s most affordable major cities.

Responsibilities

·      Plan and execute a comprehensive development and fundraising strategy, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation and government grants, annual campaigns, legacy gifts, and events

·      Identify, cultivate, and steward relationship with donors, corporate partners, and foundations

·      Plan and execute fundraising and donor events

·      Assist at donor events, special events, and performances

·      Create timely and accurate reports of development activities

·      Take advantage of learning and growth opportunities

 

Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s degree or beyond in arts administration, nonprofit administration, business administration, communications, public relations or related field

·      Proven track record of successful fundraising with at least 3 years of experience, preferably in the arts or culture sector

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·      A passion for, and knowledge of, the performing arts and the ability to galvanize others to support our mission

·      Seeking an opportunity for advancement and aspiring to executive level positions

Desired Start Date: August 1, 2024


BENEFITS

Pay Range: $60,000 - $70,000 Annual

Opera in the Heights offers a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience.
