Music to Their Ears: Opera education in the digital age

On a screen, a cheerful, feathered Papageno sits on a stone against an illustrated Pan-African backdrop, introducing The Magic Flute to students. “Our story is very special because today, you will see every character two ways,” Papageno explains. “When I speak, you will see me like this” — he appears as a person — “and when I sing, you will see me like this” — he appears as an animated avatar.
