Opera Titles by Sonya Friedman

Sonya Friedman pioneered titles for live opera performances (including Met Titles) and for broadcast. She has titled well over 100 operas.

Sonya believes that the craft of writing titles involves working with the individual style and content of each opera. It requires knowing the opera cold, sensitive timing, and the ability to write lively English. Knowing what to title, and what not to title, is almost as important as the writing itself.

When you rent Sonya’s titles, you receive digital access to the texts, and a hard copy of a cued score. Sonya can adapt titles to match the staging in your production, or write titles for any opera not yet in her catalogue.

Formerly managed by Four Corners Productions, Opera Titles by Sonya Friedman are now managed by Miriam Lewin and Lavine Production Group.
