Founded in 1939, Pittsburgh Opera combines its long history with an exciting artistic and company vision to make it one of the most dynamic opera companies in the country today. All of the Opera’s programs and activities are guided by its mission to enrich the life of Pittsburgh and the tri-state area and draw national and international attention to the region. This commitment focuses on four goals: create opera productions which meet the highest standards of artistic excellence; convey the operatic arts in ways that make the art form intellectually and financially accessible to a diverse audience; provide educational opportunities to develop young singers into tomorrow’s stars; and ensure the future of the Company through responsible fiscal management.
