Opera Saratoga has announced that Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson will step down at the end of its 2022 festival season to join the University of Houston as artistic director of the Moores Opera Center.

Kathryn Frady

Opéra Louisiane has appointed Kathryn Frady as general director. Frady, an alum of OPERA America’s 2021 Leadership Intensive, previously served as founding executive artistic director of Marble City Opera and has enjoyed a career as a soprano, appearing at companies like New Orleans Opera, Opera Carolina, and Knoxville Opera.

Jeremy Frank

Los Angeles Opera has named Jeremy Frank as chorus director, beginning in the 2022–2023 season.

San Diego Opera has hired Matthew Graber as chief marketing officer.

David Grindle has stepped down as executive director of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and been hired as executive director of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SAMPTE).

Ethan Heard has left his post as Heartbeat Opera’s co-founding artistic director to become associate artistic director of Signature Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Madison Kerr has joined Edmonton Opera as director of marketing and patron services.

Pamela A. Pantos

Central City Opera has named Pamela A. Pantos, who most recently served as development director at Boston Children’s Chorus, as president and chief executive officer.

Nicholas Payne

Nicholas Payne has announced that he will step down as director of Opera Europa, the association for European opera companies. Since his appointment in 2003, Payne has built Opera Europa’s vast membership network, established services like the OperaVision streaming platform, and forged collaboration among Opera Europa and its partner organizations OPERA America and Ópera Latinoamérica. He previously led the English National Opera and, before that, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Sondra Quinn has retired as executive director of Opera Naples.

Palm Beach Opera has renewed the contract of General and Artistic Director David Walker through May of 2025.
