American Baroque Opera Co
American Baroque Opera Company, based in Dallas, Texas, presents both familiar operas and rarely heard gems of the Baroque as fully staged productions in an intimate style to educate new audiences about authentic early music performance practice. In April of 2017, ABOC was founded an arts organization by two instrumentalists and voice teacher as an opera company that performs Baroque repertoire using period instruments and authentic performance practice. ABOC's vision is to become the leading proponent of informed performances of Baroque opera in the U.S. and to develop a diverse new audience for this exquisite genre. ABOC is a member of Early Music America. The company presented the North American premiere of Vivaldi’s Montezuma and in its fourth season adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic by going digital. ABOC produced three masterful operatic scenas, including an innovative collaboration with Classical Indian dance company Indique; filmed Christmas greetings; and is currently filming a larger, fully-staged virtual spring season: Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and the world premiere of a puppet opera version of Telemann’s Don Quixote.
