New Works Forum Featured Presentation Grants

Reimagined for 2021

With the New Works Forum virtual this year, Featured Presentation Grants have been reimagined in 2021 for an online audience.

Grants will support Professional Opera Companies in creating high-quality, mid-length video showcases of recent American premieres or operas-in-development as tools for promoting new works to colleagues and audiences worldwide.

Each of the selected producers will receive $5,000 to develop a 13-20 minute video presenting a single work. The video and its featured creators will be introduced at a New Works Forum session on June 8-9, 2021, where participants can begin conversations about potential collaborations.

New Works Forum Featured Presentation Grants support public performances, readings, and workshops of new works or works-in-development by Professional Company Members at the annual winter meeting of the New Works Forum.

The New Works Forum, the preeminent national convening dedicated to new American opera, is traditionally held in New York City. It focuses producers, artists, publishers, and other stakeholders on the latest trends in new work development.

Featured Presentation Grants expand and diversify the range of new works presented at the meeting beyond those by local New York-based companies.

New Works Forum Featured Presentation Grants are supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
