American Opera Projects
Opera in Bed-Stuy

Join us for an unforgettable one-hour evening performance of Opera in Bed-Stuy. This original presentation features vocalist Nicole Joy Mitchell, contralto, and Christopher Cooley, pianist. Born, raised, and a current resident of Bed-Stuy, Nicole will sing, talk, and answer your questions about her career in opera and music. Among her musical selections will be songs by Haydn, Schubert, and Verdi, and Songs from the F Train by composer Gilda Lyons based on the poetry of three Brooklyn girls. Guest appearance by baritone Mario Diaz-Moresco performing a new setting of Walt Whitman’s “Beat! Beat! Drums!” Presented by American Opera Projects, The Walt Whitman Project and the Brooklyn Public Library.

 

Light refreshments will be served following the performance.
